1st June 2015:
• The government's proposal to increase the rate of service tax from 12.36 per cent (including education cess) to 14 per cent has come into effect from today.

2nd June 2015:
US President Barack Obama signed the USA FREEDOM Act 2015 in law.
Irwin Rose, a biochemist who shared the 2004 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, passed away.
• The Union Minister Harsha Vardhan dedicated supercomputer 'Bhaskara' to the nation, which will help meteorologists in research and weather prediction.
• BCCI appoints Ravi Shastri as India's interim coach for Bangladesh tour.
• Sepp Blatter resigned as President of FIFA due to mounting corruption scandal in world football's governing body.

4th June 2015:
• Twenty Indian army soldiers died after their convoy was ambushed by a group of militants in Manipur's Chandel district.
 • Prominent scientist Ameenah Gurib-Fakim appointed as the first woman President of Mauritius.
• AB de Villiers named as the South African Cricketer of the Year.
Petteri Taalas, Director-General of the Finnish Meteorological Institute, appointed as the next Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

5th June 2015:
• World Environment Day observed globally today.

6th June 2015:
• India and Bangladesh have signed agreements to settle the 41-year-old boundary dispute.
• Serena Williams won her third French Open Singles Title by defeating Lucie Safarova.
 • Former India captain Rahul Dravid appointed as the coach of the India A and Under-19 cricket teams by BCCI.

8th June 2015:
• Former chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes KV Chowdary appointed as the Central Vigilance Commissioner.
• Vijai Sharma has been named the new Chief Information Commissioner.

9th June 2015:
• The Indian Army conducted a cross-border attack against terrorist in Myanmar in coordination with the Myanmar regime.
• The 16th IIFA Awards were presented in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

10th June 2015:
• India undocked its first indigenously-built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard Limited.
African countries have signed a historic The Tripartite Free Trade Area (TFTA) that facilitates creation of Africa’s largest free-trade zone. The agreement was signed in Egypt.

11th June 2015:
• Famous actor Sir Christopher Lee, who was best known for his role as Count Dracula died in Chelsea, England.

12th June 2015:
Former West Indies fast bowler Sir Wesley Winfield Hall inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
• The creator of Chandigarh’s Rock Garden Nek Chand Saini died in Chandigarh.
• The US government has opened an investigation against Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys for possible violations of H1-B visa rules.

13th June 2015:
Central Government launched an Indian Nuclear Insurance Pool (INIP) of 1,500 crore rupees as per the mandatory provision under the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act (CLND), 2010.

16th June 2015:
• According to a Chinese monitoring agency, Mount Everest moved three centimetres during the recent devastating earthquakes in Nepal.

17th June 2015:
• Sunil Chhetri became the first Indian footballer to score 50 international goals.
• Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar elected president of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
The Union Cabinet gave its approval to introduce Bureau of Indian Standards Bill, 2015 in the Parliament. It will repeal the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 1986.

18th June 2015:
• China has produced the world's first electric passenger aircraft to gain an airworthiness certificate.
Hwang Kyo-ahn appointed as the country’s new Prime Minister.

20th June 2015:
• The first International Yoga Day celebrated across the globe.India has set a new Guinness World record with the largest Yoga Class with 35,985 people.
Serbia won the FIFA U-20 World Cup by defeating Brazil at the final match held at the North Harbour Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand.

21st June 2015:
• 38 pilgrims became the first Indians to cross the border into China through Nathu La pass from Sikkim, as they undertook the Kailash Mansarovar yatra on a newly opened route.
Well known Carnatic singer Sanjay Subrahmanyan selected for Sangita Kalanidhi award for his outstanding achievements in Carnatic music.
China won the Snooker’s World Cup 2015 by defeating Scotland in the final match held at Wuxi near Shanghai in China. India stood at the third position.

22nd  June 2015:
Kerala Government has declared June 22 as ‘Snake Bird Day’ in a bid to protect the endangered species which is also known as Indian darter.

23rd June 2015:
 • Sister Nirmala Joshi, who succeeded Mother Teresa as the head of Missionaries of Charity, died in Kolkata.

24th June 2015:
• Tennis legend Steffi Graf appointed as the Ayurveda brand ambassador of Kerala.
• Senior journalist Praful Bidwai passed away.

25th June 2015:
• Former Pakistan cricket player Zaheer Abbas named as the new ICC president.
Indian spiritual leader, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar conferred with the Columbia’s highest civilian award Orden de la Democracia Simon Bolivar en el grado de cruz Caballero (Order of the Democracy Simon Bolivar) by Columbia.

26th June 2015:
• Satnam Singh becomes the first Indian-Born player to be drafted in NBA.

29th June 2015:
• Central food safety regulator Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ask the Indo Nissin Foods to withdrawal of its instant noodles brand 'Top Ramen' from the Indian market.
• For the first time, the metro train service started in Chennai.
• Banks in Greece shut down as officials scrambled to prevent the country's financial system from collapsing in panic.
India and Thailand signed the Double Taxation Avoidance Treaty (DTAT) and exchanged instruments of ratification on the extradition treaty signed in 2013.

Miscellaneous
G7 Summit 2015 was held at Schloss Elmau in Bavaria, Germany from 7- 8 June 2015. This was the 41st G7 summit and the theme for the summit was “Think Ahead. Act Together”. The Summit focused on the global economy as well as on key issues regarding foreign, security, environment and development policy.

Eminent Indian Historian-writer Ramachandra Guha has been selected for Japan’s Fukuoka Prize 2015 in n the Academic category.

India joined the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement (MCAA) on Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information (AEOI) in Paris, France, alongwith Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Indonesia and New Zealand .Earlier.

Scientists of Central Institute of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), Lucknow succeeded in whole genome sequencing of Holy basil or Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum).

A team of 100 volunteers in Bhutan has set a new world record by planting 49,672 trees in one hour.
