Percentage Questions Tricks Part 5th

Let’s continue with this chapter............
Q18. Ram’s salary is 25% more than that of Shyam. How much percentage is Shyam’s salary less than that of Ram?
Sol. Let us assume that Shyam’s salary is Rs 100/-
Ram’s salary is 25% more than Shyam’s salary, means Ram’s salary = {(100 + 25)/100} × 100
On solving Ram’s salary = Rs. 125/-
Difference between Ram’s salary and Shyam’s salary = 125 – 100 = Rs. 25/-
% less of Shyam’s salary less than that of Ram = {Difference/Ram’s Salary} × 100
= (25/125) × 100 = 20%
Hence Shyam’s salary is 20% less than Salary of Ram’s Salary.

Concept 6th   :- (Questions Based on Application of Percentage increases and decreases concept.)
Note :- If there is same % increases or % decreases in any commodity/ price/ salary/ length etc is given then the net resultant is always a loss/ decrease, which is obtained with the help of given equation:-
Net Resultant = - (% change)2/100
While Sign (-) is used for numeric quantities representing decrease / reduction /  loss etc.
We can solve such questions with the basic equation of Concept 5th

Example If the value of any item is increased by x% and then after reduced by x% then the net resultant of that item is calculated as:-

(+x) + (-x) + [{(+x) . (- x)}/100]
+x – x – (x2 /100) = – (x2 /100)

This trick must be understood as it is a very important trick which very useful in various chapters like profit loss, discount, Area etc including this chapter but always remember that this trick method is used in the questions where only % values of increase and decrease  are given and the net resultant is also enquired in percentage only.

Q19. The salary of a worker is first increased by 10% and thereafter it was reduced by 10%. What % change occurred in the Salary of the worker?

Note:- In such type of questions you should analyse the question very carefully and implement the above trick assuming net resultant is always a loss or reduction

Sol. Analyse the given data :-
Salary of the worker first increased by 10% means (+) sign will be used with this data
Salary of the worker thereafter reduced by 10% means (-) sign must be used with it.
Net resultant = Reduction in the salary of the worker (As per concept)
Now as per trick we will arrange the wanted equation for further calculation:-
% change in the salary of the worker = – (change2 /100)
% change in the salary of the worker = – (102 /100) = - (100/100)
% change in the salary of the worker = – 1% = 1% decrease in the salary of the worker.
Hence the salary of the worker is decreased by 1%.

Q20. A shopkeeper makes the price of his goods 12% higher than the original price. After that he offers a discount of 12% on cash payment. Calculate the profit or loss % of the shopkeeper, which occurred.

Note:- In such type of questions you should analyse the question very carefully and implement the above trick assuming net resultant is always a loss or reduction

Sol. Analyse the given data :-
Shopkeeper first increases the price of his goods by 12%
Shopkeeper then offers a discount on the price of his goods by 12%
Net resultant = Loss on selling (As per concept)
Now as per trick we will arrange the wanted equation for further calculation:-
% Loss / profit of the shopkeeper = – (change2 /100)
% Loss / profit of the shopkeeper = – (122 /100) = - (144/100)
% Loss / profit of the shopkeeper = – 1.44% = 1.44% loss to the shopkeeper.
Hence the shopkeeper bares a loss of 1.44%.

(Note you may say that this is so long but dear this is the only way to explain the whole concept of the question to you now its upto you that how fast and short handedly you can solve these type of questions)

Hope you have enjoyed the base concept of this chapter till now. More Conceptual enjoyment will be continued for you soon, just keep visiting this blog regularly and writing me your related queries through comment or forum.

More types of questions will be followed soon on this blog........................
