Percentage Questions Tricks Part 6th

Let’s continue with this chapter............
Concept 5th   :- (Questions Based on Application of Percentage increases and decreases concept.)
Q21. The salary of a worker was first increased by 10% and thereafter decreased by 5%. What was the percentage change occurred in the salary of the worker?

Note:- In such type of questions you should analyse the question very carefully and implement the trick explained in the previous post.
Sol. Analyse the given data :-
Salary of the worker first increased by 10% means (+) sign will be used with this data
Salary of the worker thereafter reduced by 5% means (-) sign must be used with it.
Now as per trick we will arrange the wanted equation for further calculation:-
% change in the salary of the worker = (+10) + (-5) + [{(+10) × (-5)}/100]
% change in the salary of the worker = 10 – 5 + (-50/100)
% change in the salary of the worker = 5 – 0.5 = + 4.5% (+ sign means increase in salary).

Hence the salary of the worker is increased by 4.5%.

Q22. A shopkeeper makes the price of his goods 15% higher than its original price. Due to increase in demand he further increases the price of goods by 10%. Find the net percentage profit of the shopkeeper?

Note:- In such type of questions you should analyse the question very carefully and implement the trick explained in the previous post.
Sol. Analyse the given data :-
the shopkeeper first increased the cost of his goods by 15% means (+) sign used with data.
the shopkeeper again increased the cost of his goods by 10% means (+) sign used with data.
Now as per trick we will arrange the wanted equation for further calculation:-
% profit of the shopkeeper = (+15) + (+10) + [{(+15) × (+10)}/100]
% profit of the shopkeeper = 15 + 10 + (+150/100)
% profit of the shopkeeper = 25 + 15 = 35%.
Hence the net profit of the shopkeeper is 35%.

Problem based on Tax :-
Q23. The tax on a commodity is decreased by 20% and its consumption increased by 15%. Find the effect on the revenue generated in percentage.

Note:- In such type of questions you should analyse the question very carefully and implement the trick explained in previous post.
Sol. Analyse the given data :-
The tax on a commodity is decreased by 20% means (-) sign will be used.
The tax on a commodity is increased by 15% means (+) sign will be used.
Now as per trick we will arrange the wanted equation for further calculation:-
% Effect on the revenue generated = (-20) + (+15) + [{(-20) × (+15)}/100]
% Effect on the revenue generated = –20 + 15 + (-300/100)
% Effect on the revenue generated = –5 – 3 = - 8 %(means 8% decrease in revenue generated)
Hence the % effect on the revenue generated is 8% decrease.

(Note you may say that this is so long but dear this is the only way to explain the whole concept of the question to you now its upto you that how fast and short handedly you can solve these type of questions)

Hope you have enjoyed the base concept of this chapter till now. More Conceptual enjoyment will be continued for you soon, just keep visiting this blog regularly and writing me your related queries through comment or forum.

More types of questions will be followed soon on this blog........................
