Solution of the Time & Work Practice Set Continues.................
Q25. A and B together can complete a
work in 3 days. They started together. But, after 2 days, B left the work. If
the work is completed after 2 more days, A alone could do the work in how many
days?
(a) 5
days (b) 6 days (c) 9 days (d) 10 days
Sol. One
day work detail:-
A + B → 1/3
Work done
by A and B together in 2 days = 2/3 work.
Work
remaining = 1/3 work.
According
to question this remaining work is completed by A alone in 3 days.
“A”
completes 1/3 work in 3 days.
Hence “A”
alone completes this work in 9 days.
Answer
option (c)
Q26.A man, a women and boy can together
complete a piece of work in 3 days if a man alone can do it in 6 days and a boy
alone in 18days, how long will a women take to
complete the work?
(a) 9
days (b) 21 days (c) 24 days (c) 27days
Sol. Let woman takes x days to complete the work.
According to the Concept
1/6 + 1/x + 1/18 = 1/3.
1/x = 1/3 – 2/9
1/x = 1/9.
x = 9 days.
Answer option (a)
Q27. 9 men working 7 hours a days can
complete a piece of work in 15 days. In how many days can 6 men working firm 9
hours a days, complete the same piece of work?
(a) 63/4
days (b) 16 days (c) 67/4 days (d) 35/2 days
Sol.
Analyse the given data:-
M1
= 9 men , D1 = 15 days, H1 = 7 hrs., M2 = 6 men, H2 = 9 hrs., D2 = ?
On applying
Formula:- M1 × D1
× H1 = M2 × D2
× H2.
9 × 15 × 7
= 6 × D2 × 9.
D2
= 35/2 days.
Answer
option (d).
Q28. 12 men can do a piece of work in 24
days. How many days are needed to complete the work if 8 men do this work?
(a) 28 (b) 36 (c) 48 (d) 52 (e) None of these
Sol.
Analyse the given data:-
M1
= 12 men , D1 = 24 days, M2 = 8 men, D2 = ?
On applying
Formula:- M1 × D1 = M2 × D2.
12 × 24 = 8
× D2.
D2
= 36 days.
