Time and work Tricks for Competitive Exams (SSC) - Part - 3

In the previous post of Time and work we discussed about some basic fundamental formulae based questions of this chapter. Now we will see some of the various frequently asked important question of this chapter in competition like SSC, Bank (IBPS), and Railways.
This chapter is one of the easiest chapters for students to solve with less calculations.

Type 1st :- Fundamental formulae based Questions:-

In these type of questions you just have to read the questions carefully to analyse the given data in the question and then calculate the required answer with the help of formulae given in the last post of this blog.

Q1. A group of men can do a work in 15 days, but 2 of them become absent. If the rest of the group did the work in 20 days, find the original number of men in the group.

Solution:- First of all you should read this question carefully and analyse it carefully in such manner:-

Let the number of men in the group be x. The work in this question is same means constant and only number of men and days are given for the first condition of completing the wok along with the number of days for the same work and number of men is required, So the formula for this type of question is :-

                                M1 × D1 = M2 × D2.
Data given :- M1 = x,  D1 = 15, M2 = (x – 2), & D2. = 20

     So as per our formula     (x) × 15 = (x - 2) × 20
 On calculating we get                15x = 20x – 40
                                                          5x = 40
                                                            x = 8 men in the group.

Hence the required answer is 8 men in the group.
